A Big Impact
Chicago Roundup’s bowling event is the biggest annual fundraiser to support the LGBTQ recovery community. It is a Sunday afternoon full of friendly competition, laughter, and team spirit. Most importantly, it’s the one event of the year where we raise the majority of the funds needed to host our three-day conference, held each August at the Center on Halsted, which provides a weekend of educational workshops, inspirational speakers, entertainment, and fellowship.
How it works
Lane Captains
No, not that kind of captain! Lane Captains are responsible for communicating with the members of their team, coming up with a team name and any costume theme (there is an award for most team spirit!), and keeping track of any funds raised in cash. They are there to cheer their fellow bowlers on their team to raise at least $1250. Bowling teams can have up to 6 people.
Bowlers
Every bowler, including the Lane Captain pays a $25 entry fee to bowl. This covers the cost of the lane. On top of this, bowlers pledge to raising money above and beyond this entry fee to reach a total team goal of $1250. Bowling teams can have up to 6 people.
Donors
These are the important people in your life who support the LGBTQ recovery community. They can be friends, family members, people who go to your church, coworkers, your hair stylist, your barista… anyone willing to give you a few bucks to donate to your team and the Chicago Roundup! Donors can donate in cash (give this to your Lane Captain to manage), but the best way is to send donors to your team’s Donate link or QR code. That way, your team is sure to get the credit for the donation. Don’t worry, we will provide all the technical details to make this easy.
